The One: Why Your Yes Matters More Than You Think

Last month, I sat in a baptism service for a young girl who has been coming to our church. It isn’t even my home church, but honestly, I will show up to any baptism service anywhere—because there is nothing like watching a child declare that they love Jesus. No stage lights. No hype. Just pure, childlike faith.

I watched child after child share how Jesus made Himself real to them—through their mom praying with them at night, through a grandma who read Scripture to them, through a mentor who listened.

And as I listened, I couldn’t help but think of Jesus’ words:
“There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” — Luke 15:10

Can you imagine that?
ALL of heaven erupting like their team just won the Super Bowl—because one 7-year-old said, “Yes, Jesus, I want to follow You.”

Not a stadium full of thousands.
Not a national revival tour.
Not a famous influencer with a million followers.

Heaven goes wild over the one.

And it hit me:
This is why NEOS FAM exists.
This is why we launched this movement.

Because behind every child who decides to follow Jesus, there is almost always someone—one mother, one father, one auntie, one mentor, one youth worker—who decided to show up. Someone who chose to disciple. Someone who fought through their own weakness, their own insecurities, their own exhaustion, and said:

“God, use me for the one You've entrusted to me.”

But let’s be honest. Parenting is heavy. Discipleship is harder.

We’re raising kids in a world where:

  • their attention is constantly being pulled away from God,

  • culture is catechizing them faster than the Church is,

  • anxiety is normal,

  • identity is confusing,

  • and families feel more isolated than ever.

And then on top of that, we look at our own lives and think:

“I’m tired.”
“I don’t know enough Bible.”
“I don’t pray enough.”
“I’m barely keeping up with everything.”
“Shouldn’t the church be discipling my kids?”
“Who am I to lead anyone spiritually?”

If you’ve ever thought any of those—you are not broken. You are not failing.
You are human. And you are exactly who God chose.

God didn’t make a mistake handing your child to you.
He didn’t misjudge your ability.
He isn’t waiting for a “better Christian” to show up.

God entrusted those little lives to you because He knew you would lean on Him.

God has always had a plan for generational discipleship — and it starts at home.

“You shall teach them diligently to your children… when you sit… when you walk… when you lie down… when you rise.” — Deuteronomy 6:6–7

This means discipleship doesn’t begin in a classroom.
It begins at the dinner table.
In the car.
Before bed.
In the little moments that don’t look spiritual at all.

And here’s the beautiful thing:
God never expected you to do it alone.
He just expected you to say yes.

This is why we created NEOS FAM.

This is more than content — it’s a movement.**

A movement of:

  • parents who refuse to let culture disciple their kids faster than Christ,

  • families who believe their home is a training ground for revival,

  • moms and dads who feel overwhelmed but refuse to give up,

  • youth workers who want to be equipped to shepherd “the one,”

  • communities who believe God still saves, speaks, and transforms.

NEOS FAM is here to equip you, strengthen you, and walk with you—not as experts standing above you, but as family standing beside you.

Because the next generation isn’t going to disciple itself.
And the church cannot do alone what God designed families to lead.

You are the primary discipler.
You are the one God has called.
And the world needs your yes.

Imagine your child…

  • hearing God’s voice confidently,

  • understanding Scripture deeply,

  • knowing who they are in Christ,

  • learning how to fight spiritual battles with truth,

  • walking boldly into their calling,

  • becoming a light in dark places,

  • being the one heaven rejoices over again and again.

This is not a fantasy.
This is discipleship.
This is your legacy.
This is what NEOS FAM is fighting for—families who raise kingdom warriors, not just well-behaved kids.

Action Steps: Start Today

1. Pray for your child by name today.
Ask God to stir their hearts toward Him.

2. Start one simple daily rhythm.
A prayer at breakfast.
A verse at bedtime.
One spiritual conversation a day.

3. Join the NEOS FAM movement.
Plug into the podcast, resources, workshops, and community built to equip you.

4. Believe that your yes matters.
Heaven celebrates “the one”—and you are shaping that one every day.

Reflection Questions

  1. What is one fear keeping you from discipling your child more intentionally?

  2. What is one small spiritual habit you can start today?

  3. Who is “the one” God has entrusted to you in this season?

  4. How might your family look in one year if you committed to consistent discipleship now?
